Premier Wen stresses independent IPR creation

On December 27, Premier Wen Jiabao and his entourage arrived in Beijing Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park for investigation. When talking about how to deal with the international financial crisis, Premier Wen stressed that enterprises should step up independent innovation and cultivate independent intellectual property.

During the investigation, Wen Jiabao hosted a symposium with principals of colleges and universities, research institutes and enterprises in the Park. At the meeting, Wen said that the international financial crisis becomes fiercer and enterprises should take quick, effective measures. The permanent cure is to foster innovation industry and own independent intellectual property.

Wen Jiabao pointed out that it is important to handle the relationship between the economy and S&T properly. Knowledge and technology are the most important factors for economic and national security, competitiveness and sustainable development, the fundamental strength to overcome the crisis and the inexhaustible motive force for enhancing the competitiveness of industry, products and enterprises. We should have broad and long-term vision and give full play to the role of knowledge and technology.
