REDMOND, Wash. - Microsoft Technology Licensing LLC announced in a press release a new collaborative patent licensing agreement with GoPro Inc. for certain file storage and other system technologies.

“This agreement with GoPro shows the incredible breadth of technology sharing enabled through patent transactions,” said Nick Psyhogeos, president of Microsoft Technology Licensing. “Microsoft’s licensing of personal wearable technologies is seeing strong demand as we partner with companies from all industries to optimize solutions for their customers around the globe.”

The terms of the agreement are confidential.

The patent agreement is another example of the important role intellectual property (IP) plays in ensuring a healthy and vibrant technology ecosystem. Since Microsoft launched its IP licensing program in December 2003, it has entered into more than 1,200 licensing agreements.

GoPro, Inc. is transforming the way people visually capture and share their lives. From extreme to mainstream, professional to consumer, GoPro enables the world to capture and share its passion in the form of immersive and engaging content.
