The Shenzhen-based Coship Electronics Co Ltd last week unveiled China's first proprietary smartphone operating system - the 960 OS, which is based on Linux. The developer said the system features high security because it monitors the user's contact, text messages and position information. It also announced that it will unveil the first cellphone installed with the new system in the next month, which industry insiders said may carry the Chinese positioning and navigation system Beidou instead of GPS.
