A total of 50 cultural volunteers in yellow and red jerseys, in soggy conditions, started from the city's museum riding public bicycles with flags saying "respect intellectual property, maintain market order", and "copyright – precious resource".

The rain did not dampen their enthusiasm as these volunteers from different copyright posts rode three routes passing various main streets to promote the theme on the day.

"I feel proud to be a part of the event," said Shao Wei, one of the volunteers. "To walk onto the street protecting copyright is really meaningful as our country is now pledging strong support on intellectual property protection."

The city launches a series of promotion events every year and this year we're cycling to call for public awareness and expand the city's influence in this respect, said Zhu Rongxiang, deputy director of a local news publishing bureau.

More than 100,000 pirate audio and video products, illegal publications, gambling game consoles and satellite receiving facilities were destroyed during previous campaigns.
