Alcatel-Lucent has launched its 100G IP solution in China. As part of the launch, the company has successfully held the first live demo of the 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100 GE) interface for its 7750 Service Router (SR) for China Telecom.
The demo proved that the service router was indeed able to support connection scaling at 100 Gbps line-rate speeds, and that 100 GE interfaces are indeed viable for broad deployment within carrier networks--from within the IP core to the service edge and metro itself.
Scaling of networks
Alcatel-Lucent's 7750 SR offers the global industry's first 100 GE solutions that support full IP routing, Ethernet switching and edge services. 100 GE is a tenfold leap forward for service providers needing to scale their networks efficiently and at the lowest risk possible.
The company's portfolio of service routers is the only set of routers from any provider worldwide whose performance under real-world conditions has been validated by independent organisations and testers.
Testing has determined that this set of products is capable of consistently excellent performance and conformance to exacting performance standards under multiple deployment scenarios.
Strength in 100 GE arena
Alcatel-Lucent offers clients best-of-breed IP offerings, optics with 100GE service routing, 100G coherent optics, and its Converged Backbone Transformation (CBT) solution, the industry's most comprehensive IP/optical integration framework. The company has shipped more than 70,000 IP/MPLS service router portfolio systems to 350 service providers in more than 100 countries worldwide.
Romano Valussi, President of Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, said that the successful launch in China highlights the company's leadership in the 100 GE arena, and confirms the company's ability to help clients efficiently scale their activities.
Valussi added that the company's 100G solution is compatible with China's national convergence strategy for its TV & radio networks, telecom and Internet access services, as well as the application of video services.
