China-Russia joint lab for rare-earth functional materials opens

In order to boost basic research, applied basic research and high and new technology R&D, a joint lab for rare-earth functional materials was established under the support of MOST in the China-Russia Technology Park in Changchun, Jilin Province.
Nikolai Dobretsov, President of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presided over the ceremony, on which leaders from CAS Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences signed the agreement.
The signing ceremony was attended by high-caliber Chinese government officials including State Councilor Chen Zhili, Minister of Education Zhou Ji and Vice Minister of Science and Technology Cao Jianlin. Its nameplate was unveiled by Madame Chen and Governor of the Novosibirskaya Oblast Vikor Tolokonsky.
