China will provide foreign and domestic enterprises with a sound environment for fair competition and enhance the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) according to laws, said the country's Vice Premier Li Keqiang on March 27 when meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook in Beijing.

Li said, global economy's robust and sustainable development depends on the advance of technologies and industries which are currently incubating new breakthroughs. The Chinese government has always regarded the progress of science and technology as a major support to the transformation of economic development mode and has strived to strengthen innovation.

Economic and trade cooperation is an important milestone in Sino-US relationship featuring mutual respect and win-win; meanwhile, China's transformation of growth mode, expansion of domestic demand and technical innovation have all been carried out in the context of a deepened opening-up, Li pointed out. In this regard, China will continue to provide good environment for enterprises both home and abroad to pursue fair competition, enhance IPR protection and is willing to see multinational corporations such as Apple to explore their partnership with Chinese local enterprises to promote industries to shift towards Central and Western China.
