During the Mobile World Congress (MWC26), Huawei officially announced the launch of global 6G standardization work and disclosed that it holds a 15.7% share of core 6G patents, ranking first globally. China as a whole maintains a leading position with a 40.3% share of 6G patents. Yang Chaobin, CEO of Huawei ICT BG, stated that the first 3GPP 6G standard version is expected to be frozen no earlier than March 2029. Over the next five years, the industry will focus on optimizing 5G-A technology to lay the foundation for 6G evolution.

Huawei’s leading advantage in the field of 6G patents is significant, with its 15.7% global share highlighting its strong technological reserves. Yang Chaobin emphasized that the rapid development of AI technology has created new demands on networks, and the next five years will be a critical window for the explosive growth of mobile AI services. 5G-A technology, through a tenfold increase in uplink and downlink speeds, along with new IoT technologies such as RedCap and Passive-IoT, will provide support for AI services.
