On June 24, 2026, Taiwan, China-based consumer electronics manufacturer ASUS and Finnish telecommunications company Nokia jointly confirmed that they have signed a global license agreement resolving their dispute over standard essential patents related to the H.265/HEVC video coding standard, thereby ending parallel lawsuits previously pending in multiple national courts. This marks the third licensing arrangement Nokia has reached with respect to the same batch of HEVC patent litigations, following similar agreements with Acer and Hisense. With this final settlement, all lawsuits initiated by Nokia in 2023 against the three defendants have now been concluded through licensing.
