Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has launched two new online platforms, designed to simplify music licensing for businesses and eliminate fraudulent copyright collection.

The initiative aims to protect service and retail businesses, such as restaurants, hotels and cafes, from illegal fee collection and potential legal disputes.

According to DIP Director-General Nusara Kanjanakul, the first platform is a comprehensive music database containing over 250,000 Thai and 19 million international songs. It allows businesses to identify the legitimate organizations authorized to collect royalties for specific tracks.

The second platform is an agent verification system. Business owners can scan a QR code on an agent’s digital ID card to instantly confirm their credentials and the scope of their authority with the DIP.

“These systems are crucial tools for fostering a healthy environment for Thailand’s creative industries, which are a key driver of sustainable economic growth,” said Nusara.

Both platforms will be accessible via the DIP’s official website, ipthailand.go.th.
